A Place to Belong

Years ago a lady who had not attended worship in a very long time came to Light of Christ.  After a few weeks she told us something we hope to never forget.  She said, "No one needs a church.  Everyone needs a church family."  We are finding this longing in many people. In a world where we are surrounded by superficiality, God has created us to be in meaningful, loving, and encouraging relationships. Not only do we have a church family, but we also join together with God’s family across time and place.   Heaven is cheering us on, so that all may come home to our Father and His perfect love and peace.

A Place to Believe

We have been created to believe in God. The problem is we tend to misplace that faith. We put our faith in ourselves, our families, other people, or in things simply working out by themselves. No wonder there is so much disillusionment and despair! At LOC we encourage each other with this simple phrase: “Eyes on Jesus”. He is the Author and Perfector of our faith. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is the Vine and we are the branches. He is the bread of heaven. He is everything! We place our faith in Jesus, learn to follow Him, and He takes care of the rest.

A Place to Be Loved

God has created us to love us and our deepest spiritual need is to be loved. So what is the problem? Distractions. We live in a world that knows nothing about unconditional love, because the world does not know Jesus. The world is chasing what Christ freely gives to us: perfect love. We cannot save ourselves from our sins, so Jesus paid for all of them and for all time. It is finished! He died for us so we can live with God forever. This is love. Accept His gift of unconditional love. We are all saved by grace so that no one can boast. As we continually receive His love, we get the joy of pouring it out to our family, friends, neighbors … everyone. LOC is a place to be loved and to love like never before.

A Place to Become

“God loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave you that way. He wants you to be just like Jesus. ” (Max Lucado) This says it wonderfully: we are created to conform our lives to Jesus, not to the world. As followers of Jesus we are always becoming more and more like Him, through the work of the Holy Spirit within us. More grace, more love, more peace, more hope, more joy, more gentleness, more compassion, and more strength as we follow Jesus. We are forever becoming, without ever arriving … at least in this life! This is the adventure we are created to live, caring for others every step of the way. Your adventure awaits!

Get to Know Us

John 8: 12

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

At Light of Christ our focus is simply Jesus: learning to listen to Him, committing our lives to Him, and then following Him into the lives He has prepared for us.  What happens next?  Miracles.

Notice in the above scripture that Jesus says "Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."  Regardless of your background or your baggage, God loves you.  We would love to meet you on Sunday at 10am.

"And know that I am with you always; yes, to the end of time" Matthew 28: 20

We celebrate the Lord's Supper the first Sunday of the month.  All who love Jesus are welcome to receive this gift from heaven.

Jesus Christ
What is the story of the rooster etched in the concrete out front?

Historically many Protestant churches in Europe placed a rooster atop their steeples to distinguish them from Catholic churches. The rooster has been a Christian symbol since God used it to show the weakness of man with Peter and the triumph of Christ in resurrection.

Here at Light of Christ, we have the crowing rooster as a reminder to never deny who Jesus is and what he has done in our lives. Remember, we have Someone Peter did not have at the time: the Indwelling Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to boldly share the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus, with the entire world, and to never deny him.
