Romans 8: 38-39

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There is a word that the Bible discusses a great deal but seems to have been removed from our current vocabulary. That word is sin. What is sin? The essence of sin is disobedience to Almighty God and His rules for living. God's world; God's rules. He has created us with free will, so we can choose to obey or disobey Him. The problem is we all disobey Him. That is why there is so much evil in the world: We all want to be our own bosses. Not some of us ... all of us. This is called our sin nature. And the problem with our sin nature is that disobeying God not only separates us from Him but from each other.

Thankfully there is something much greater than our sin. That is God's love for us. Love is not simply a characteristic of God. It is Who He is! God is love. (1 John 4: 8) So Jesus, love incarnate, came to earth to show us how to live, died to pay for all of our sins, and rose again to live in heaven and our hearts once we surrender our lives to Him. Once this happens, nothing can ever separate us from His love. Thank you, Lord Jesus!

But His love does more than connect us with an indestructible connection with God. His love connects us to each other. Through the Holy Spirit living in us we can begin to obey the most astonishing command anywhere in the Bible. It is found in John 13: 34. Jesus said, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another."

How does Jesus love us? Unconditionally and self-sacrificially. He died to pay for my sins so I can live with Him forever. Only Jesus loves me like that. And now, through the indwelling Holy Spirit, I can learn to love others the same way He has loved me? According to Jesus, yes! Ask Jesus to help you love your family the way He first loved you. Ask Jesus to help you love your co-workers the way He first loved you. Ask Jesus to help you love everyone the way He first loved you. And ... He ... will.

Supernatural connections through infinite, eternal, beautiful love, flowing from our Father's thrown through Jesus to us, and through us to everyone. You are the light of the world. Shine!
